Homemade Model

Mastin Photography (815) 685-0499

What's a photographer-Dad to do on a cold, boring Saturday afternoon to keep himself and his five children entertained?

The answer, of course, is enlist the kids in a homemade, impromptu photoshoot!

I dug out some of my special backdrops and set up a quick studio in the living room, using the couch to position my "models."

After some poofing of the backdrop material, we had a system worked out. Each one of the kids took a turn at being a model. We did some group shots as well.

The shot above is from my little actress. Once I saw the results, I knew she would really get a kick out of being a cover model on a magazine. I worked up this imitation Vogue cover and printed her a 2-foot x 3-foot poster for her room. Dad was a hero!

I used many of the same techniques here that I use in my Portraits-at-Home sessions. Keep it fun, keep it light, and make it memorable for everyone.

Sure, she's one of my beautiful girls, but I think it's a pretty nice shot as well. Give me a call and I can do the same for your family!
